About SWF
Safe Women Foundation (SWF), an NGO registered as a Society with Government of India under the Registration of Societies Act of 1860, was established in the year 2008 for the personal safety of women through organizing and conducting Self Defense Workshops for women employed in the corporate sector, college and school Girls.
The Foundation addresses all personal safety-related threats that women face today in urban India, which as we all are aware are plenty, and undertakes such initiatives that will ensure their right knowledge and techniques of self-defense, safety tips, learning through real incident sharing, and suggestive measures, so that they can acquire the confidence to move ahead in life without any fear and play an equal role for their own betterment and for the betterment of the society.
Dedicated to the safety, education, and welfare of women, for the last thirteen years, with the support of women’s groups and martial arts experts, the foundation has been dedicated itself to equipping women with knowledge and fearlessness conducting workshops and touring hospitals, hotels, schools, call centers, to teach women self-defense and safety techniques. Many of these workshops have been addressed by top functionaries of the government including the former Chief Minister of Delhi and the Foundation’s work has been greatly appreciated.
In 2006, Sunil Nihal Duggal (Chairman, Twenty 4 Ventures Group Limited ) authored the book “Women 24 Secure”, a self-help guide for women to make intelligent safety decisions and to trust their instincts. Built on the same principles, Sunil Nihal Duggal founded Safe Women Foundation (SWF). Shri Vinod Duggal, Former Union Home Secretary, and Governor have recently agreed and become Parton of the foundation. Ms. Suruchi Duggal is the Secretary-General of the foundation. The members of its governing body are eminent persons of the country who have proven credentials and are well known for their commitment to the cause of women.
Aiming Towards Well-being of Women
An impetus to the idea of such a Foundation was the need of the hour for women to feel secure – be it at their workplace, on roads, while using public transport, while engaged in social activities or even in their own homes. This came naturally to Twenty 4 Ventures Group Limited , considering it has been working in the field of security, as they strongly felt for the cause. The logical fact that followed was the teaming up of a group of Professionals, who feel the need to deal with these issues, through the consolidated efforts of a Foundation to meet its Objective- to work for the security, safety, protection and empowerment of urban women with a special focus on urban working women.

Sunil, a guy is following me on a motorbike. What should I do?”This was a frantic call he received from his sister. Given his immense background in security, he handled the situation immediately and ensured his sister’s safe journey home. However, he was deeply disturbed by this incident. Sunil decided to conduct a survey to understand what women of all backgrounds face on a day-to-day basis.
Their shocking stories inspired him to write a book on women’s safety. In 2006, Sunil authored “Women 24 Secure”, a self-help book guiding women to make intelligent safety decisions and trust their instincts, through knowledge, awareness, and self-defense techniques. Equipping women with the ability to protect themselves and face and any adverse situation with confidence. “Women 24 Secure” written in English and translated in Hindi, “MahilaSadaSurakshit”, sold and distributed over 70,000 copies. Ultimately the confidence that will come with the ideas given in this book, should serve as an invaluable tool for modern living. It will make women feel inherently more secure, as they will know beforehand what to do in most day-to-day situations. There is no perfect world or perfect city and neither are people perfect in their attitudes and thoughts, Women 24 Secure is, however, a step towards equipping women with the necessary tools needed for self-defense and self-preservation.
